the eucharist
In documented cases from Lanciano, Italy (approximately 8th century), Buenos Aires, Argentina (1996), Tixtla, Mexico (2006), Sokółka, Poland (2008), and Legnica, Poland (2013), consecrated Hosts have been subjected to laboratory analysis by scientists who found human myocardial tissue from the left ventricle, living white blood cells, and tissue showing signs of severe distress. The Lanciano case is significantly weaker than it has often been presented, due to both methodological limitations in the original study and the confirmed fraud of a widely-cited corroborating report.
The modern cases — particularly Buenos Aires and Sokółka — present the strongest evidence, though each has procedural weaknesses that must be acknowledged. The blood-type convergence argument has been narrowed by a 2024 peer-reviewed paper. What remains — the histological finding of organized cardiac muscle tissue — has not been explained.
